UPDATE: Soren Dixon, Jack Nelson, Krysta Tsukahara ID’ed in Fatal Tesla Cybertruck Crash at Hampton Rd, King Ave in Piedmont

Piedmont, CA – Three young lives were lost after a Tesla Cybertruck crashed and caught fire early Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024, at the intersection of Hampton Road and King Avenue. The victims, all recent graduates of Piedmont High School, were identified as Soren Dixon, Jack Nelson, and Krysta Tsukahara, according to ABC30.

The crash, which occurred shortly after 3 AM, involved a single vehicle that jumped a curb, struck a tree, and erupted in flames. A bystander managed to pull one passenger from the burning vehicle, but Dixon, Nelson, and Tsukahara were pronounced dead at the scene. The rescued individual remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The victims had been home from college visiting family for the holidays. Authorities believe they may have attended the same gathering earlier that night. Speed was cited as a contributing factor in the crash, and investigators are working to determine if impairment played a role.

On Friday, November 29, hundreds of residents gathered at a vigil to honor the three victims, lighting candles and sharing memories.

Soren Dixon’s family described him as an ambitious student and athlete who cherished his relationships with friends, family, and his dog, Ruby.

Jack Nelson was known for his adventurous spirit, deep faith, and love for the outdoors.

Krysta Tsukahara, a sophomore at the Savannah College of Art and Design, was remembered for her compassionate heart and artistic talent.

Single-Vehicle Collisions and Passenger Liability

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility.

California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages. A personal injury attorney can play a critical role in sorting through these details to help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.

Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Wrongful Death claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming.

A skilled personal injury attorney can help families pursue proper compensation for their loss by handling these legal complexities and negotiating with insurance companies, who always try to reduce payouts on claims they cannot deny.
