Bakersfield, CA — According to KBAK, on March 30, 2024, at approximately 10:31 AM a head-on collision on Highway 178 near Doyle Ranch resulted in the loss of a 42-year-old Onyx man identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as Sean Gordon Stewart and severe injuries to three others.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that Stewart was traveling eastbound in a Subaru as a Toyota traveling westbound on Highway 178 and the two vehicles struck each other head on. While Stewart was killed, the occupants of the Toyota, including the driver and a passenger, suffered severe injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital for urgent medical care.
In the wake of this devastating event, a GoFundMe campaign has been established for Stewart’s family. The campaign highlights Stewart’s role as a devoted husband, cherished friend, and loving father to two sons.
As investigations by the CHP unfold, factors such as alcohol and drugs are being scrutinized for their potential involvement in the collision.
Wrongful Death Claims
While no amount of money can bring back those who lose their lives in a vehicular fatality, the emotional burden of their loss is often accompanied by a financial burden that falls on their surviving family members.
A wrongful death claim filed with the insurance provider of an at-fault driver can provide compensation to help cover medical expenses, burial costs, and even the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.
However, because insurance companies carry the incentive to reduce the payout for any claim they cannot deny, the services of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in securing justice for the deceased.
