UPDATE: Rogelio and Yessenia Avila Named as Father and Daughter Killed in Crash at Chestnut and Annadale

Fresno County, CA – According to ABC30, authorities have released the names of the father and daughter who were killed in a fatal semi-truck collision on Monday, January 30, 2024, as 50-year-old Rogelio Avila and  20-year-old Yessenia Avila.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Chestnut and Annadale, southeast of Calwa. Avila was driving a Chevy truck northbound with his daughter, driving her to Fresno Pacific University, where she was enrolled as a student.

When a semi-truck, heading west on Annadale, initiated a southbound turn onto Chestnut, Avila collided with the semi-truck and became pinned underneath. Both Rogelio and Yessenia were declared dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck emerged unharmed.

Officers are actively investigating the incident’s cause, with foggy conditions being considered as a potential contributing factor.

Wrongful Death Claims

While no amount of money can bring back those who lose their lives in a vehicular fatality, the emotional burden of their loss is often accompanied by a financial burden that falls on their surviving family members.

A wrongful death claim filed with the insurance provider of an at-fault driver can provide compensation to help cover medical expenses, burial costs, and even the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.

However, because insurance companies carry the incentive to reduce the payout for any claim they cannot deny, the services of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in securing justice for the deceased.
