Ontario, just outside of Los Angeles, was the site of a fatal car accident that killed a fruit cart vendor and injured another on July 5, 2021.
NBC Los Angeles first reported on the accident, saying that it took place just after 11 a.m. “on Riverside Drive near Euclid Avenue.”
According to police, two fruit cart vendors were headed northbound across Riverside Drive when they were struck by a car. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 43-year-old Jessica Dewet of Chino.
One of the vendors was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Neither victim has been identified as of writing. Dewer was also treated at the hospital for minor injuries and has been arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.
