A collision involving multiple vehicles in southern Moorpark left one person dead and badly injured another victim Friday morning. The Ventura County Fire Department said the accident occurred along Moorpark Road near Tierra Rejada Road on January 20, 2023.
KTLA-TV reported the accident took place somewhere between Tierra Rejada Road and Read Road. The California Highway Patrol determined that three vehicles had collided. Photos from the scene showed that an SUV involved was sent down an embankment. Emergency crews could be seen working to get a victim out of the vehicle. They then carried the victim up the embankment on a gurney.
One victim was tragically killed in the accident. Another victim was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Dangers Along Moorpark Roads
Not every road through Moorpark is a flat, straight street. Moorpark roads can feature serious curves and some inclines and declines that drivers may not be expecting. Distracted motorists can easily veer into another lane or into the path of oncoming traffic without realizing it. Suddenly other drivers and passengers are put at risk of a major impact.
California transportation researchers at UC Berkley track the dangerous accidents that occur on Moorpark roads each year. By their count, there were 89 accidents involving injuries across Moorpark in 2021.
These accidents rob victims of their well-being and can cause permanent disabilities that completely change the lives of patients. Their health and their financial welfare will be left in jeopardy unless an at-fault driver is held liable. Families can also lose loved ones in these tragic crashes. They’ll be left to cope with a future without the guidance and financial support the deceased can no longer provide.
