At 9:28 PM, the coroner was notified, and at 11:37 PM, the accident was logged as a single-vehicle pedestrian fatality. Southbound traffic was stopped at Highway 33 for several hours to accommodate investigators and clear the collision.
Additional details, including the identity of the pedestrian who lost his life, have not been released as of the time of reporting.
Ventura Fatal Pedestrian Accidents and Wrongful Death Claims
Even in an accident where no criminal charges are filed, the family of the deceased may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim if the driver is found at fault in the pedestrian’s death. Should it be determined that negligence on the pedestrian’s part shares responsibility for the fatal crash, any settlement may be reduced in proportion to his liability.
