Sonoma County, CA – On the evening of Monday, September 28, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality on State Route 116 near Sparkes Road, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 8:40 PM.
Authorities said fire personnel responded and worked to gain further access to the involved vehicle, a Mazda that sustained front-end damage. Caltrans was contacted for a hard closure at Bloomfield Road and State Route 116, with both eastbound and westbound directions blocked. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
An evidence tow was requested for the Mazda, which was later secured at a tow yard. The roadway was reopened at approximately 12:14 AM.
