Taft, CA – On the evening of Saturday, September 26, 2026, a two-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality at State Route 119 and Harrison Street, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:41 PM.
Authorities said both vehicles caught fire and became fully engulfed, with no occupants seen exiting either vehicle. Taft Police Department responded to assist. Caltrans was contacted for a hard closure, with both directions of State Route 119 closed at Harrison Street and Cedar Street.
Two flatbed tows were requested for the vehicles. The coroner was notified and responded with an estimated arrival of 35 to 45 minutes. All lanes were reopened at approximately 11:38 PM.
