Santa Cruz County, CA – On the morning of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:02 AM at Corralitos Road and Merk Road, a rural roadway near Bradley Elementary School in Santa Cruz County.
Authorities said a motorcyclist was found bleeding in the roadway. A witness initially reported the incident as a solo motorcycle crash, but upon further contact with dispatch, clarified that a pickup truck remaining at the scene had struck the motorcycle. Both lanes of Corralitos Road were blocked during the response. Nearby Bradley Elementary School was notified of the closure.
Two evidence tows were requested for the vehicles involved, which were later transported to a tow yard. County Roads responded to assist with a closure on the opposite side of Merk Road. The roadway was reopened at approximately 9:27 AM, with barriers placed on the right shoulder near the pickup truck’s resting position.
