San Jose, CA – In the early hours of Sunday, September 20, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality on the Yerba Buena Road on-ramp to northbound Highway 101, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:06 AM.
Authorities said a silver Ford Fusion left the roadway, went down an embankment, and overturned onto its roof. San Jose Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed one fatality. Both lanes of the on-ramp were blocked, and the ramp was shut down during the response.
An evidence tow was requested for the vehicle, which was later transported to a tow yard. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded. The on-ramp was reopened at approximately 5:24 AM.
