Bakersfield, CA – On the evening of Sunday, September 13, 2026, a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle resulted in a fatality at State Route 178 and Pinto Street, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:32 PM on Bakersfield’s east side.
Authorities said the collision involved a large GMC Yukon SUV and a Honda Shadow motorcycle, with the SUV remaining at the scene with its hazard lights activated.
The rider was pronounced dead at 7:42 PM by responding medical personnel. The Kern County Coroner was notified and responded to the scene.
Tows were requested for both vehicles, with American Towing arranging to recover both the SUV and the motorcycle.
No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
