Davis, CA – On the afternoon of Sunday, September 6, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in two deaths on Interstate 80, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 12:28 PM on the Interstate 80 East to State Route 113 South connector, on the south side of Davis near UC Davis and Putah Creek.
Authorities said a black Infiniti SUV was reported swerving prior to the crash before pulling to the right shoulder. One occupant, identified in radio traffic as Dougherty, was transported by medical ambulance and pronounced dead at the scene. A second occupant, identified as Fisher, was pronounced dead at Kaiser Permanente Vacaville at 1:30 PM.
A tow was requested for the vehicle, which was transported to a tow yard following the conclusion of on-scene proceedings. All lanes were reopened at approximately 3:36 PM.
