Tuolumne County, CA – On the morning of Sunday, August 23, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality on J59 near Avenida Lugo North, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 11:19 AM.
Authorities said a vehicle went into a group of trees, with the crash site difficult to see from the roadway. As a result of the collision, emergency medical services were dispatched. The coroner was notified and responded with an estimated arrival of 30 minutes.
A flatbed tow was requested for the vehicle. The roadway was cleared at approximately 1:59 PM.
