Tracy, CA – On the evening of Saturday, August 1, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality after a car went into a canal, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 9:01 PM at West Schulte Road and South Lammers Road.
Authorities said the vehicle left the roadway, jumped over a canal, and landed in an orchard. Tracy Police Department was notified and responded to the scene. The driver was pronounced dead at 9:20 PM by a responding official. The coroner was notified and responded.
A tow was requested for the vehicle, which was located on the north side of the canal along Schulte Road, accessed via a dirt road on Lammers Road just north of Schulte Road, across from Red Bridge Road.
No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
