Santa Clara County, CA – On the evening of Saturday, July 25, 2026, a chain-reaction collision involving a motorcycle resulted in a fatality on southbound Highway 101 near the Sargent overcrossing, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 5:10 PM.
Authorities said the incident involved three vehicles and a motorcycle, with the motorcyclist found down in the roadway wearing a helmet. Investigators later determined the crash consisted of two separate collisions, including a solo motorcycle crash. CPR was performed on the motorcyclist while emergency medical services responded.
A black Nissan Rogue was located approximately 100 yards south of the collision, and the motorcycle was found approximately 30 feet off the roadway. Caltrans was contacted for a hard closure, with an estimated arrival of one hour.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and Gilroy Police Department assisted at the scene. Tows were requested for the motorcycle and an SUV. All lanes were reopened at approximately 8:40 PM, with the incident confirmed as a solo-vehicle fatality shortly after.
