Tracy, CA – In the early hours of Sunday, July 26, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality on Byron Road, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 12:33 AM at 14222 Byron Road.
Authorities said a vehicle struck a pole and became fully engulfed in flames. Stockton Fire Department and the Tracy Police Department responded to the scene. PG&E and AT&T were notified regarding damage to the pole, with PG&E arriving with an estimated response time of 45 minutes. Traffic signals at the intersection were reported out of service following the crash.
Byron Road was closed in both directions between West Grant Line Road intersections. County Roads was contacted for a hard closure at a nearby roundabout, with signage dispatched to the scene with an estimated arrival time of one hour. One southbound lane was reopened while the closure remained partially in effect.
A tow was requested for the vehicle, which was completely burned. No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
