Contra Costa County, CA – On the morning of Friday, July 24, 2026, a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle resulted in a fatality on Byron Highway at North Bruns Road, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:15 AM in the Byron area.
Authorities said the motorcyclist was ejected and thrown onto the side of the road following the collision with a Chevrolet Camaro. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office was notified to respond in its capacity as coroner.
A SigAlert was issued closing the southbound lane of Byron Highway at North Bruns Road with an estimated closure of 45 minutes. An evidence tow was requested for the Chevrolet Camaro, with both vehicles ultimately transported to a tow yard. Both directions of Byron Highway were reopened and the SigAlert cancelled at approximately 9:10 AM.
No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
