San Luis Obispo County, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, July 20, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality on Adelaida Road, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:39 PM near 4600 Adelaida Road.
Authorities said the vehicle lost control and rolled off the roadway, coming to rest on its roof. A Spanish-speaking witness reported the collision, with a translator assisting responders.
CAL FIRE San Luis Obispo and the Templeton area office were notified and responded to the scene. Adelaida Road was closed just east of Hidden Mountain Road and just west of Stag Leaps Way, with the closure expected to remain in place for approximately two hours.
A wrecker and flatbed tow were requested for the vehicle, which was transported to a tow yard following the conclusion of on-scene proceedings. The roadway was reopened at approximately 6:58 PM.
