Pine Grove, CA – On the afternoon of Sunday, May 25, 2026, a three-vehicle head-on collision resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 4:10 PM at 18251 Ridge Road.
Authorities said the collision involved a white GMC Sierra, a white Honda sedan, and a third vehicle, with all lanes of Ridge Road blocked following the impact. An off-duty firefighter whose spouse was a reporting party requested an air medical unit, and the Amador County Sheriff’s Office was notified to coordinate emergency medical dispatch.
County Roads was contacted to bring sand for fluid leaking from one of the vehicles at the scene. Three tow trucks were requested for the vehicles involved.
The incident was initially classified as a major injury crash before being upgraded to a fatality later that evening. An evidence tow was requested for the Honda Civic, which had been transported to a tow yard, with an officer dispatched to escort the evidence vehicle to a secure lot.
No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased or the full circumstances of the collision had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s comparative negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
