Lake County, CA – On the morning of Sunday, May 17, 2026, a single-vehicle motorcycle collision resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 11:16 AM on State Route 20 between Old State Highway and Black Lakes Road, just west of the passing lanes.
Authorities said a motorcycle overturned and came to rest in an area not visible from the roadway, with several vehicles pulled over at the scene following the crash. CAL FIRE and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office were notified and responded.
A high-angle rescue operation was required to reach the crash site, prompting a full closure of the eastbound lane while Caltrans coordinated the closure.
The motorcycle was identified through VIN decoding as a Harley-Davidson Road Glide. An evidence tow was requested for the motorcycle following the conclusion of rescue and recovery operations. The incident was confirmed as a single-vehicle fatality involving a female rider.
