Sonoma County, CA – On the afternoon of Thursday, April 9, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality in Jenner, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 1:38 PM on State Route 1 near Willig Drive.
Authorities said a Lexus GS470 went over an embankment and came to rest approximately 30 feet off the roadway. The vehicle was found still running upon discovery, with no victims immediately located at the scene. Fire department units responded and blocked the southbound lane while emergency personnel searched the area.
The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department was notified and responded, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife also arrived to assist, given the terrain. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department inquired about an estimated arrival time for a recovery operation over the embankment.
Caltrans was notified and responded with an estimated arrival of 45 minutes to assist with the lane closure. The Lexus sustained minor front-end damage and was towed from the scene. All lanes were reopened at approximately 4:55 PM following the conclusion of on-scene proceedings.
No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
