I-80, Cherry Glen Rd Off-Ramp Crash in Solano County Ends in Fatality

Solano County, CA – In the early hours of Sunday, March 30, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality on eastbound Interstate 80 near the Cherry Glen Road off-ramp, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:58 AM.

Authorities said a dark gray Honda Accord struck a guardrail and came to rest on the right shoulder, with the vehicle sustaining major damage on all sides. A gray Toyota Corolla was also identified at the scene with major damage.

A traffic break was initiated on the eastbound side, and all lanes were subsequently closed with an unknown estimated time of opening. Traffic was diverted off nearby exits while the investigation was underway.

The Vacaville Police Department was notified and responded. Caltrans and the Transportation Management Center were contacted and coordinated with authorities during the closure. A tow truck was requested for the gray Toyota Corolla, and a separate evidence tow was later requested and dispatched to the Vacaville Tow Yard.

All lanes were reopened at approximately 5:21 AM following the conclusion of on-scene investigative proceedings. No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased or the full circumstances of the collision had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s comparative negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a wrongful death claim.
