Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on SR-4 in Brentwood

Brentwood, CA – In the early hours of Tuesday, March 25, 2026, a motorcycle fatality was reported on westbound State Route 4, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 12:47 AM.

Authorities said a motorcycle rider was found lying in the right lane of westbound State Route 4, with the motorcycle also in the right lane. A black SUV with a malfunctioning axle was located approximately 50 feet ahead of the motorcycle in the center divide. Debris, including a large metal rod, was reported in the number one lane.

Multiple callers reported that several vehicles, including at least one big rig, had struck the rider in the roadway before stopping. A vehicle ahead of one reporting party was also described as having run over the motorcycle’s arm before continuing without stopping.

All lanes of westbound State Route 4 were blocked following the incident, with traffic diverted off the Sand Creek off-ramp while the Sand Creek on-ramp was shut down. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to respond in its capacity as coroner. Caltrans was notified and coordinated with authorities during the closure. Tow trucks were requested for the black SUV, a black sedan, and the damaged motorcycle.

All lanes were reopened and the Sand Creek on-ramp was restored at approximately 3:36 AM. The Brentwood Police Department was notified of the reopening. No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.

Wrongful Death Claim

Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling. Filing a wrongful death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses.
