Hollister, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, March 21, 2026, a three-vehicle collision in San Benito County resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:56 PM at the junction of State Route 152 and State Route 156.
Authorities said the collision involved a white Acura, a black GMC pickup truck, and a gray Nissan hatchback. All lanes in both the eastbound and westbound directions were blocked following the impact, with no drivers reported out of their vehicles in the immediate aftermath. Santa Clara County emergency units responded to the scene, and fire department personnel arrived shortly thereafter.
SigAlerts were issued for both eastbound State Route 152 just west of State Route 156 and westbound State Route 152 just east of State Route 156, with traffic brought to a standstill in both directions. Caltrans District 4 was notified and responded, with an estimated arrival of approximately one hour.
Tow services were requested for the vehicles involved, though both encountered significant traffic delays on their approach to the scene due to the extended closure. Officers escorted one tow truck through the stopped traffic to reach the scene.
Both lanes remained closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene and vehicle recovery operations were completed. The roadway was cleared and reopened by Caltrans at approximately 11:29 PM. Two of the vehicles sustained major front-end damage.
No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased or the circumstances of the collision had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
