Livermore, CA – On the evening of Monday, March 17, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality on the westbound Interstate 580 off-ramp to Isabel Avenue, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 8:42 PM.
Authorities said a vehicle departed the left shoulder of the off-ramp and came to rest approximately 50 feet off the roadway after rolling over three times before landing back on its wheels. A male occupant was found outside the vehicle following the crash. A witness reported that the vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed before losing control.
A SigAlert was issued, closing the off-ramp to Isabel Avenue with an unknown estimated time of opening, and motorists were advised to use alternate routes. A traffic break was initiated on the mainline while the left turn lane on the off-ramp was also closed. Caltrans was notified and coordinated with authorities during the closure.
The Alameda County Coroner was contacted and responded to the scene.
An evidence tow was requested for the vehicle, described as a gray two-door, which was located approximately 50 feet off the roadway. The vehicle was recovered by the tow service and transported to the yard, with the off-ramp reopening at approximately 12:36 AM following the conclusion of on-scene proceedings.
No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
