Fatal Crash SR-46, Corcoran Rd Crash in Kern County

Kern County, CA – In the early hours of Saturday, March 14, 2026, a collision in Lost Hills resulted in a fatality on State Route 46, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:30 AM on State Route 46 between the 23230 and 23437 blocks, near the intersection with Corcoran Road in the Buttonwillow CHP jurisdiction.

Authorities said two vehicles were involved in the collision, with one vehicle blocking the westbound lane of State Route 46 following the crash. OnStar services reported an occupant with unknown injuries at the time of the initial notification. 

A hard closure was requested for both eastbound and westbound lanes between Corcoran Road and McCoy Road, with an estimated duration of two to three hours. Caltrans was notified and responded with a supervisor, with an estimated arrival of approximately 90 minutes.

The coroner was contacted and responded to the scene. Three tow trucks were requested for the vehicles involved. Following the conclusion of on-scene proceedings, Caltrans was additionally called upon to address an oil spill covering the roadway, with a sweeper and solvent requested to clear the surface.

No additional details regarding the identities of those involved or the circumstances surrounding the collision had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
