San Benito County, CA – On the afternoon of Sunday, February 22, 2026, a motorcycle collision resulted in fatal injuries, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:42 PM on westbound State Route 156 at Bixby Road.
Preliminary information indicates the motorcycle struck the center divide of a roundabout. Both the motorcycle and rider came to rest on the right shoulder of the roadway.
Emergency communications personnel advised that CPR was in progress and that two major injuries were reported. Fire department command staff responded to the scene, and authorities requested that traffic be rerouted onto Business State Route 156 to allow emergency crews to work safely.
Sheriff’s deputies and additional CHP units responded to assist with scene management and investigation. Tow services were requested for a flatbed capable of transporting both motorcycles involved. A Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle was later documented in connection with the crash.
The collision was ultimately classified as a fatality. The motorcycle was removed to a tow yard following an evidence hold. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a Wrongful Death Claim.
