SR-152, Dinosaur Point Rd Crash Kills 2 in Santa Clara County

Santa Clara County, CA – In the afternoon hours of Sunday, February 8, 2026, a single-vehicle rollover crash resulted in two fatalities on State Route 152 near Dinosaur Point Road, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 4:21 PM when a vehicle traveling along SR 152 struck a hillside before flipping over and landing on its roof on the right shoulder. Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle during the rollover.

Emergency responders arrived to find two women lying in the roadway, one in the fast lane and another between lanes. Fire department personnel performed life-saving measures, including CPR, but both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, with both westbound lanes of SR 152 closed for several hours to allow for emergency response, evidence collection, and a helicopter landing zone. Eastbound lanes remained open during much of the investigation.

The identities of the victims have not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a Wrongful Death Claim.

Passenger Liability

Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Wrongful Death Claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming. As a neutral third party, an experienced personal injury attorney can help navigate these emotional complexities.
