Fatal Crash near Dayton Rd, Owen Ln in Chico

Chico, CA – In the early hours of Sunday, January 25, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:27 AM near the intersection of Dayton Road and Owen Lane.

Authorities said the vehicle involved came to rest in an orchard after the collision. First responders, including Butte County Fire Department and Sheriff’s deputies, arrived on scene to provide emergency care and secure the area. The male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators coordinated with the coroner’s office and began documenting the scene, including evidence collection and vehicle processing. A white four-door Nissan sedan was associated with the crash and was transported to the CHP office for further investigation.

Roadway closures were implemented while officers conducted the investigation, and the scene was later cleared, with County Roads notified to remove traffic signage. CHP continues to review the circumstances of the collision, including vehicle condition, roadway factors, and any potential contributing elements.
