Big Rig vs Pickup Crash with Fatality at South Edison, Hermosa Rd in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA – On the morning of Monday, December 29, 2025, a traffic collision on South Edison Road at Hermosa Road resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred at approximately 6:40 AM and involved a big rig and a white pickup truck. Debris was reported in the roadway following the crash, prompting an emergency response.

CHP dispatch logs indicate that heavy fog was present in the area at the time of the collision. Emergency communications were initiated, and traffic safety measures were implemented as crews arrived on scene.

Initially, the incident was classified as a traffic collision with major injuries. At approximately 8:39 AM, CHP updated the incident classification to a fatality after confirming that one individual had died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
