Crash with CDOT Equipment on SR-340 in Barstow Kills Motorcyclist

Barstow, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, December 16, 2025, a collision with roadway equipment resulted in fatal injuries to a motorcyclist, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:10 AM near mile marker 40 on eastbound State Route 340.

CHP logs indicate the incident was initially reported as a traffic collision with unknown injuries before being updated to a fatal collision as emergency responders were dispatched. Authorities stated that the crash involved a motorcycle and equipment from the California Department of Transportation, which was operating in the area.

Fire personnel and additional agencies were notified and responded to the scene as part of standard emergency and investigative procedures. CHP requested a coroner after determining the severity of the injuries sustained in the collision.
