Cameron, CA – On the morning of Wednesday, December 10, 2025, a traffic collision involving a big rig claimed the life of one person, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:56 AM on State Route 58 near Green Mile Marker 159.
CHP’s preliminary investigation indicates that, for unknown reasons, a Walmart big rig truck went off the right-hand shoulder and collided with the center divide wall. Emergency personnel arrived to find the driver unresponsive and began CPR at the scene. The individual was later transported to Tehachapi Hospital, where their life could not be saved.
Authorities worked to partially block the westbound lane while clearing the wreckage and coordinating with Caltrans to manage traffic. The big rig’s load and exact contributing factors to the collision remain under investigation.
CHP Fatal notes that all details are preliminary, and the department continues to examine the circumstances to determine any additional factors involved in the crash.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
