Driver Killed in Nevada County Crash at Penn Valley Dr, Spenceville Rd

Penn Valley, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, December 2, 2025, a single-vehicle collision resulted in fatal injuries to an unidentified driver, who lost their life after crashing into a tree, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 11:06 AM at the intersection of Penn Valley Drive and Spenceville Road.

Authorities initially received conflicting information about whether another vehicle was involved, but responding units determined the gray Ford sedan had struck a tree, leaving the driver with critical injuries. Fire personnel arrived within minutes and began CPR, and emergency crews later transported the patient from the scene due to the severity of the trauma.

Officials noted that both northbound and southbound lanes were affected as firefighters, deputies, and towing services worked to manage the incident. A heavy-duty tow was requested to remove the damaged vehicle, which had lost a wheel and sustained extensive front-end damage.

The investigation remains active as CHP works to determine how the crash occurred and whether any additional factors contributed to the fatal injuries.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
