Merced County, CA – On the afternoon of Sunday, November 30, 2025, a motorcycle-versus-vehicle collision on State Route 152 West near Lower Cottonwood resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 1:35 PM in the westbound lanes. For reasons unknown, a motorcycle collided with a gray Volkswagen Tiguan and then traveled across the roadway before striking the center divide, causing severe injuries to the rider.
Fire personnel and other emergency responders arrived in the center divide to treat the injured motorcyclist and secure the scene. Additional callers reported that the motorcycle had been moving recklessly through traffic prior to the crash, though investigators have not yet released final findings.
Cal Fire and Caltrans crews assisted with traffic control and later returned to wash down the impacted guardrail. A flatbed tow truck was requested to remove the motorcycle, and the roadway remained partially affected for several hours as officials completed their work. CHP continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
