Colusa County, CA – In the early morning hours of Friday, November 14, 2025, a crash involving a vehicle that left the roadway and overturned down an embankment resulted in a fatality, according to the CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol first received reports of the incident at approximately 4:48 AM. A vehicle was found off the roadway after traveling into an embankment near River Road and Laux Road. A follow-up update from the county sheriff’s office indicated the crash site was roughly two miles north of Laux Road.
Responding units later confirmed that the vehicle had come to rest on its roof down the embankment, and a tow request was initiated just after 6:00 AM to manage the recovery. Officials also contacted the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office during the response.
Authorities have confirmed that the collision resulted in at least one fatality. No additional identifying information about the victim, nor the circumstances leading to the crash, has been released.
The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the factors that contributed to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
