Lake County, CA – In the late morning of Friday, November 14, 2025, a single-vehicle crash resulted in a fatality along the eastbound side of Highway 20, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the incident was first logged around 9:07 AM near mile marker R41.50, where a vehicle was found off the roadway.
Early notifications included multiple automated iPhone traffic-collision alerts, but callers were unable to provide a vehicle description or additional details. Responding units confirmed a traffic collision, and Caltrans was dispatched to assist with traffic management.
Authorities implemented one-way traffic control beginning at approximately 10:27 AM, later shifting to a two-way traffic pattern with the eastbound No. 2 lane closed. CHP later requested that the Lake County Sheriff’s Office contact the coroner at 11:01 AM, confirming that the crash had resulted in a fatality.
No information has been released regarding the identity of the deceased or the circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway. The investigation remains ongoing.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
