Fatal Crash at I-880 Thornton Ave On-Ramp in Fremont

Fremont, CA – In the early hours of Wednesday, November 12, 2025, a single-vehicle crash involving a black Honda Civic resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place shortly after midnight on the eastbound Thornton Avenue on-ramp to northbound Interstate 880.

Authorities said the vehicle collided with the left-hand shoulder of the ramp and sustained damage to a concrete wall. Emergency responders, including the fire department and coroner’s office, arrived at the scene, but the driver was pronounced deceased.

Traffic on the ramp was temporarily blocked while crews cleared the wreckage and assessed the scene. Initial reports indicate a flat tire may have been involved, though investigators are still reviewing the circumstances that led to the crash.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident to determine the cause of the collision and any contributing factors.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
