Jamestown, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in the Yosemite Junction area, a collision involving a big rig resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 11:03 AM on State Route 108 near Obyrnes Ferry Road.
Authorities said the victim was found on the right-hand shoulder of the roadway following the incident. Responding personnel from the California Department of Forestry and local sheriff’s units arrived on scene to provide assistance and secure the area.
Initial reports indicate that a medium-duty big rig was involved, and a flat tire off the roadway was noted, though there was no significant damage to the vehicle itself. The exact circumstances leading to the fatality remain under investigation.
The California Highway Patrol and the sheriff’s department continue to gather information and review the scene to determine the factors that contributed to the crash. Traffic in the area was temporarily restricted as first responders managed the incident.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
