Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at SR-23 near Sunset Hills Blvd in Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks, CA – A motorcyclist died Monday afternoon, November 11, 2025, following a solo crash on southbound State Route 23 near Sunset Hills Boulevard, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports at approximately 4:42 PM of a motorcycle down on the right shoulder of SR-23. 

When officers and Ventura County Fire Department personnel arrived, they located a rider who had sustained critical injuries after what appeared to be a single-vehicle collision. Despite immediate medical attention, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the victim’s name, pending notification of family members. 

CHP logs indicate that the crash did not involve any other vehicles. Emergency responders performed traffic control while investigators documented the scene and coordinated the removal of the motorcycle.

All lanes of southbound SR-23 were temporarily affected while crews worked to investigate and clear the site. Traffic was fully reopened a short time later.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. CHP officers are reviewing possible contributing factors, including vehicle speed, roadway conditions, and mechanical issues.

 

Single-Vehicle Collisions
