Benicia, CA – One person was killed on the night of Monday, November 3, 2025, in a crash on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 780 near the East 2nd Street off-ramp, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 8:16 PM, and emergency responders from CHP, Benicia Fire Department, and Caltrans arrived to find lanes partially blocked by wreckage. Officials issued a Sigalert due to the severity of the crash and temporarily closed the number two lane while they worked to secure the area and provide medical aid.
Authorities confirmed that one person died at the scene. The victim’s identity will be released by the Solano County Coroner’s Office once the next of kin have been notified.
The roadway remained closed for several hours as investigators documented the scene and cleared the vehicles. All lanes reopened shortly after 11:20 PM.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. CHP has not yet determined whether speed, distraction, or impairment contributed to the fatal crash.
