Lassen County, CA – On the morning of Thursday, October 30, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality on US 395, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 6:37 AM near Wemple Lane.
Investigators said the crash involved three vehicles, including a two-vehicle head-on collision that caused significant damage. Emergency responders from the fire department and medical units arrived at the scene to provide immediate assistance to those injured.
A female occupant in one of the vehicles was awake and talking, but was reported as possibly trapped. Despite efforts by first responders, at least one of the individuals involved suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision.
The roadway was closed temporarily while emergency crews and Caltrans personnel managed the scene and arranged for tow trucks to remove the damaged vehicles. Traffic remained disrupted for several hours until authorities reopened the highway.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash, including vehicle positioning, driver actions, and the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
