Sonoma County, CA – On the afternoon of Thursday, October 23, 2025, a single-vehicle crash involving a beige Ford Expedition claimed one person’s life, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the incident occurred around 2:37 PM near the Lytton Springs Road exit on U.S. 101 North in Healdsburg.
Authorities responded to the scene after reports of the vehicle stopped on the off-ramp under unclear circumstances. The Healdsburg Police Department arrived first and confirmed the fatality shortly after 3:00 PM. Officials indicated that the crash was connected to a missing person case previously reported to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department.
Emergency responders, including Caltrans and a tow service, were called to the scene to assist with traffic control and vehicle removal. The off-ramp remained partially closed while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the roadway.
No additional injuries were reported. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Single-Vehicle Fatalities
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
