Fatal Big Rig Crash on I-5 near Benjamin Hold Dr in Stockton

Stockton, CA – On the evening of Sunday, October 19, 2025, a collision between a sedan and a big rig on Interstate 5 left at least one person dead, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash took place around 9:49 PM on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the Benjamin Holt Drive on-ramp. 

Authorities said a gray four-door sedan collided with the rear of a big rig on the collector ramp, blocking multiple lanes of traffic.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and found the sedan lodged beneath the back of the truck, causing extensive damage. Firefighters and tow operators worked late into the night to remove the vehicle from under the big rig.

By early Monday morning, lanes one through three remained closed as investigators and cleanup crews continued to process the site. Details regarding the number of occupants, their conditions, and the identity of the deceased have not yet been released.

The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol to determine what led to the deadly impact.
