Plumas County, CA – On the evening of Wednesday, October 8, 2025, a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision happened around 7:21 PM on State Route 70, just west of C Road.
When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian trapped beneath the vehicle in the eastbound lane. Emergency crews worked quickly to reach the victim while traffic was partially diverted to keep vehicles moving through the area.
Paramedics confirmed that the pedestrian died from their injuries at the scene. Officials closed the number one eastbound lane for several hours as investigators documented the site and arranged for towing.
Caltrans assisted with managing the lane closures and later reopened the roadway once authorities finished their work.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the events that led to the fatal crash.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, which includes being vigilant for those travelling by foot and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
