Antioch, CA – On the evening of Saturday, October 4, 2025, a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a black sedan occurred on eastbound State Route 4 near the Somersville Road on-ramp, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision happened around 8 PM. CHP logs show that the motorcycle blocked the number three lane while the sedan came to rest on the right shoulder. Firefighters from the Contra Costa County Fire Department responded promptly to provide medical aid and control traffic at the scene.
Emergency personnel worked to assist the motorcyclist, but the rider died from injuries sustained in the crash. Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity.
Officers conducted traffic breaks to manage the heavy congestion that followed. Tow crews arrived to remove the motorcycle from the highway. A Toyota Prius involved in the incident was also towed at the owner’s request.
CHP and Caltrans coordinated lane closures during the investigation. All lanes reopened at approximately 10:55 PM after evidence was cleared and emergency vehicles left the area.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
