Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on US Hwy 101 near SR-126 in Ventura

Ventura, CA – On Saturday evening, October 4, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle left one person dead on northbound U.S. Highway 101 near the State Route 126 east interchange, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash occurred around 7:38 PM and involved at least four vehicles, including a silver Nissan Sentra, a pickup truck, a Toyota Prius, and a motorcycle.

CHP logs indicate that the motorcycle appeared to have been struck and then possibly run over by the pickup truck, with additional vehicles colliding in the aftermath.

Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash and began providing aid. Despite their efforts, one person died at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.

Traffic on northbound Highway 101 slowed for several hours while officers conducted a full investigation and cleared the wreckage. Tow crews removed the motorcycle and other damaged vehicles from the area.

All lanes reopened late in the evening after the roadway was cleared. CHP continues to investigate the circumstances leading to the fatal crash.

Ongoing Investigations

Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.

Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.  Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
