Fatal Crash on I-80 near 8th Street On-Ramp in San Francisco

San Francisco, CA – In the afternoon of Thursday, September 11, 2025, a traffic collision on an Interstate 80 on-ramp resulted in one fatality, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:11 PM on the Bryant Street on-ramp to eastbound Interstate 80, with responders later confirming the exact location near the 8th Street on-ramp.

Medical responders arrived and confirmed one fatality at the location. Officials notified the San Francisco County Coroner’s Office, which dispatched personnel to the site at 3:48 PM to begin the identification process. The name of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Caltrans also received notification and coordinated with CHP officers to manage traffic in the area. The crash caused delays for drivers entering Interstate 80 from both Bryant Street and 8th Street as investigators worked to document the scene and clear the roadway.

Authorities have not yet released details about the number of vehicles involved, the cause of the collision, or whether any additional injuries occurred.
