Napa, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, September 9, 2025, a pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash on Silverado Trail near Hardman Avenue, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the incident occurred around 6:27 AM in the southbound lanes. Dispatch logs indicate multiple vehicles stopped in the area, and firefighters, along with sheriff’s deputies, responded.
Authorities said the involved vehicle, a silver Honda Civic, fled the scene after the collision. A motorcycle was also reported at the crash site and was taken as evidence along with the Civic.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Napa County Coroner’s Office will release their identity once the next of kin have been notified.
Silverado Trail was closed for several hours between Trancas Street and Hardman Avenue while investigators processed the scene and Caltrans crews assisted with traffic control. All lanes were reopened by 9:40 AM.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol’s Napa office.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a fatal collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
