Fatal Head-on Crash near St Helena in Napa County on SR-29

Napa County, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, September 8, 2025, a head-on collision north of St. Helena left at least one person dead, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 2:36 PM on State Route 29.

Two vehicles collided head-on in the roadway, and one overturned during the impact. Dispatch logs show that at least one vehicle came to rest on its roof, trapping occupants inside. Emergency responders from CHP, Cal Fire, and local tow services rushed to the scene and worked to gain access to those inside the wreckage.

Authorities confirmed that at least one person died in the crash. Officials have not released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. Additional injuries may have occurred, but details remain limited.

The collision blocked the roadway entirely for an extended period. CHP noted significant delays as responders worked to clear the scene.

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances of the crash, and no immediate information about contributing factors has been provided.
