Madera County, CA – On the evening of Sunday, September 7, 2025, a two-vehicle crash on State Route 41 near Road 406 left at least one person dead, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision happened around 7:37 PM and involved a black Honda Accord and a Ford Escape.
Witnesses told dispatchers that an elderly driver was pinned inside a vehicle following the crash. Emergency responders, including CAL FIRE and EMS, arrived at the scene to treat multiple patients.
Authorities confirmed that CPR was performed on at least one victim, but they later died from their injuries. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of relatives.
Both directions of State Route 41 were closed for several hours while CHP officers investigated the crash and Caltrans crews managed the roadway closure. Tow trucks later removed the damaged vehicles. The highway reopened to traffic at about 11 PM.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
